2 retirees hit jackpot in Malaysia with combined winnings of $16.7 million

n a statement by Sports Toto Malaysia, the 69-year-old retiree walked away with RM26.8mil (S$9 million) on the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on June 27.

“Since my retirement, I have nothing much to do. So, playing Sports Toto games actually helps me to kill time.

“The winning pair of 4D numbers – ‘9998 & 3324’ were special to me and I have been betting on these numbers for over a decade,” the Selangor resident was quoted as saying.

Sports Toto Malaysia, said the man spent RM6 to buy a System 3 Toto 4D Jackpot ticket, which helped him to increase his chances of winning by betting on three sets of numbers.

“He won not only RM26,816,066.80, but also an additional RM336 for playing the System Play method,” it said.

Meanwhile, Sports Toto Malaysia said another winner, who is a retiree from Sarawak, had won RM22.9mil on the Supreme Toto 6/58 jackpot on June 3.

The statement said the 70-year-old winner enjoyed playing Lotto games, not just because of the large jackpots, but also because of the unique playing methods of the games.

“Normally I would buy all Lotto games i.e. Star Toto 6/50, Power Toto 6/55 and Supreme Toto 6/58 whenever I bet, as I enjoy picking my own set of lucky numbers – 6, 12, 35, 37, 40 & 49 for every Lotto game.

“I don’t spend a lot on betting. I only spend like RM10 for each draw, just for the fun of it,” he said.

The Sarawakian added that he doesn’t have a plan yet on what to do with his winnings.

It added that on top of the two winners, other winners from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak shared the RM11.9mil Toto 4D Jackpot 2 on June 20.

A total of RM61.7mil was paid out to the winners for the month of June.
