Mahindra Thar have been spied a lot of times now on the Indian roads and the SUV will be showcased in its second-generation avatar at the Auto Expo next year. The vehicle now sits on a new body-on-ladder-frame chassis which gives better off-road experience and will be longer and wider than the ongoing Signature Edition of Thar.

By the pictuures, it is confirmed that the Mahindra Thar will get factory fitted hardtop along with front-facing rear seats ditching the jump seats which is present on the first-gen. It gets some new design language and a completely revamped interior design.

The main change for the 2020 Mahindra Thar will be seen in the cabin inside as it is likely to feature a touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features. A multi-function steering wheel, front power windows and a digital display can be expected too in the upcoming Thar.

The interiors of New Mahindra Thar also sees black fabric seats and white stitching to give a contrast. It also features front power windows and we can also expect a new multi-function steering wheel.

The safety front of the Thar will also see a major upgrade as dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, ABS with EBD, high-speed alert system and front seat belt reminders will come as standard across all trims.

While the current-gen Thar uses a 2.5L, Diesel engine with 105hp, the next-gen Thar is expected to be quite more powerful than the current one. It will use a new 2.0-litre BS6 compliant engine that will be launched with the all-new Thar. The engine will produce around 140 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
