5 Hacks For Easy-As-Pie Hair Care

By Anna Redman And Rachel Debling

With more than 25 years of hair-styling experience, Callie Harcourt has seen it all. She’s been trained by leading companies like Schwarzkopf, Goldwell, and L’Oreal, and continues to stay up-to-date with industry trends by attending trade shows and seminars across the globe.

1. Ditch The Water. “Dry shampoo, such as Osis Refresh Dust, is always a great way to freshen up locks if you don’t have time to shampoo in the morning,” Callie explains. “It’s also a great way to get some extra volume into flat hair. Simply spray at the roots, then massage into strands with your fingertips.”

2. Beat The Brass. “Blonde hair tends to get brassy looking, especially in the summer,” notes Callie. “Try using a blueing shampoo to keep that yellow away.” And don’t be afraid of the dark purple colour — Callie assures it won’t stain your hair. She recommends Clairol Shimmer Lights or Schwarzkopf Silver Shampoo.

3. Tame Your Curls. “Curly hair tends to frizz and expand in the summer months,” Callie acknowledges, “so it needs to be tamed with heavier products.” She suggests Osis Magic Anti-Frizz Shine Serum mixed with Curl Me Soft Velvet Curl Cream on wet or dry curls. “Scrunch in, and then leave it alone! The more you touch your hair, the more it will frizz and expand.”

4. Succeed When You Straighten. “Trying to straighten hair in the summer can be an ongoing challenge,” Callie sympathizes. “Dry hair with a straightening product, then spritz each section with a protective spray, such as Osis Flatliner, which protects the hair and repels humidity, before taking the iron to it.” After you straighten your hair, brush only once, give a mist of hairspray, and then ( just like with curls) refrain from touching to keep your sleek locks straight all day long!

5. Always Be “Going Out” Ready. “Wash your hair in the morning, put the product of your choice in damp, towel-dried hair, brush into a ponytail (without an elastic), and twist into a bun, pinning with bobby pins,” Callie advises (three or four pins should do it). “At the end of the day, take out the pins, give your hair a shake, and enjoy perfect waves for your night on the town.”
