6 BOOKS TO READ BEFORE THEY BECOME MOVIES

2017 has been the year of book-to-movie adaptions. But it isn’t quite over. Starting in July and continuing throughout the year, some best-selling books are scheduled to make their movie debut. Lately it seems like all of our favorite movies and TV shows are based on books (see Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and literally any Nicolas Sparks movie). But why wait? If you’re like me, you like to read the book before seeing the movie and the summer offers a perfect break to read these books before the movie premier date.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Cara Delevinge stars opposite Dane DeHaan in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a 28th century sci-fi thriller based on Jean-Claude Mezieres Perre Christin’s text of the same name. In theaters July 27. Watch the trailer here.

The Dark Tower

Starring Idris Elba, Matthew McConoughey and Katheryn Winnick, The Dark Tower is based around a man whose dad is tragically killed in 9/11, who begins to doubt his own sanity after suffering terrifying and apocalyptic visions. Based on Stephen King’s popular novel of the same name. Coming to theaters August 4. Trailer.

Stephen King’s terrifying novel It is next in line to be adopted for the silver screen. Bill Skarsgård plays Pennywise, a shapeshifter that takes the form of an evil clown. Jaeden Lieberher and Finn Wolfhard also star. Coming to theaters September 8. Trailer.

The Snowman

Not as lighthearted as it may appear, The Snowman, based on Jo Nesbø’s novel of the same name, is a mystery thriller. Michael Fassbender investigates the murder of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around the neck of a snowman. Also staring Rebecca Ferguson and Val Kilmer. Hitting theaters October 20. Trailer.

The Mountain Between Us

When two strangers charter a small plane, they end up having to work together to survive in the snowy wilderness when their plane crashes. The two survivors, played by Idris Elba and Kate Winslet forge a strong connection when trying to save survive together. Based in Charles Martin’s novel of the same name. Set to be released October 20. Trailer.

Let it Snow

The same John Greene that brought you The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns is back to turn his latest best seller Let it Snow into a box office hit. The already popular story features many intertwining love stories that come together on Christmas Eve. No mention of a cast or official movie trailer yet but this film is rumored to hit theaters November 22 of this year.
