Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is going to boast the series’ first transgender character

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will include the series’ first transgender character.

Trans male Ned Wynert will be amongst the supporting characters in the game, acting as a quest giver for protagonists Jacob and Evie Fry, Eurogamer reports.

The game has also updated its opening statement, which now reads: “Inspired by historical events and characters, this work of fiction was designed, developed, and produced by a multicultural team of various beliefs, sexual orientations and gender identities.”

The news comes after the series was criticised for a lack of diversity, with fans launching a petition about the lack of female playable characters in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Elsewhere, it was recently announced that Jack the Ripper will be stalking the streets of London in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
