Enjoying our favorite fall activities

It should be no secret that we are infatuated with all things autumn. I mean, have you seen our fall-infested instagram account? Chris has even gone so far as the name the whole of October (his birthday month), “Christoberfest.” The second the calendar changed to September, we raced out the door and stocked up on pumpkin spice syrup, cinnamon scented candles, candy corn, flannel shirts, ceramic pumpkins, and anything else that screamed “fall.”

We have a tiny RTW trip planned for the next six weeks and have attempted to fit in all of our favorite autumnal activities before we step foot on the plane bound for the TBEX conference in Rome. Below are our top fall experiences that we highly recommend for anyone else that wants to get into the spirit of things.

A trip to the local pumpkin patch and corn maze

There are few things I love more than hitting up a local farm and partaking in all of the harvest fun. This year, we checked out Bob’s Corn & Pumpkin farm in Snohomish, Washington. Now, I’ve seen my fair share of pumpkin farms in my day but this one just might be my favorite of all time. It’s like the Disneyland of all things fall. Not only is there a HUGE pumpkin patch and awesome corn maze, but good ol’ Bob also has a country store, apple canon (you read that right), bon fire pits built into the corn maze, hay rides, and more. Not to mention the ridiculously delicious food that is served including the likes of pumpkin and apple doughnuts, roasted corn on the cob, an assortment of BBQ, apple cider, kettle corn, and heaping bowls of chili.

After our frolic through the corn maze, we made our way to the pumpkin patch where I chose the cutest pumpkin of all time.

The family’s annual cider press

Chris deems cider press, lovingly referred to as “Pider Cress” as one of his favorite holidays. It’s one day where the family gets together to pick, chop, and press apples into the most delicious cider ever. The best part of Pider Cress is reaping the fruit of our labor. Not only do we drink gallons of apple cider but we usually eat a wonderful array of apple-filled treats.

This year, after we finished pressing gallons (90 this year!) of apple cider, we set up a target and practiced archery as a family. We then played one of the most hilarious games ever. Telestrations had me nearly in tears with every round. I highly suggest it for your next game night.

Fall picnics and bike rides

Come autumn, we’re looking for any excuse to get outdoors. Last week, we decided to head out for a little afternoon exercise and partake in a little leaf peeping. We were shocked at how strikingly beautiful our favorite bike trail was and found ourselves stopping regularly to take in the changing leaves and beautiful colors.

It was also decided that Chris wanted to celebrate his birthday with a little picnic (or in our case, “car-nic”) with a smorgasbord of his favorite food. I secretly purchased his favorite cheese (Cougar Gold!), apples, and some hard apple cider. We then picked up a ridiculously good pulled pork flatbread pizza and headed out to a nearby park. We originally planned on heading into the Cascades but ended up changing plans as we found out that some good friends were going to be in town.

Needless to say, it was a scrumptious picnic.
