Here’s How to Get All That Hairspray Off Your Hair Tools

You probably know how to clean makeup brushes, and you can easily organize your skin care shelf. But what about taking care of all your hair tools?

Turns out, all you need to get all of that caked-on hairspray and hair products off your curling iron is alcohol and baking soda.

Whether you use thermal protective sprays, hair spray, or mousse, over time it can build up on your hair tools like curling irons, curling wands, and even the edges of straighteners. While it might feel thick and impossible to remove, the process is simple and there are actually two different ways to do it. 

With the first method, you’ll soak a cotton pad in alcohol and then rub your cold hair tool, breaking down the build-up. You might need more than one cotton pad depending on the level of soil, but once you’re done, simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, allow it to dry, and you’re down.

With the second option, make a paste from three parts baking soda and one part water. Using a cotton pad or washcloth, wipe down the curling iron, wand, or straightener with the mixture. Wipe away any excess with a damp washcloth, and you’re done.

The next time you’re styling your hair and notice some unfortunate build-up accruing, it might be time to grab some alcohol or baking soda.
