With incredible new cameras and satellites floating around the earth, the visuals captured from outer space are enough to bring some of our greatest science fiction writers to tears. These images reveal that our undiscovered universe is infinitely bizarre, but luckily for us, we can now get a glimpse of just the tip of the iceberg.

The first time a human left earth to travel into space was Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961. About a month later, America achieved the same feat. In the following decade, in 1975, the U.S and the Soviet Union made their first joint effort in space travel.
