Burning Man cannot be summed up in a word….it’s difficult to classify and hard to explain. But we’ll try, it’s a yearly end-of-summer extravaganza that takes place in the middle of the Nevada desert. It’s a counterculture phenomenon similar to Woodstock, but then again, not. There are droves of musicians but no scheduled gigs. They play for the love of playing—no money changes hands at Burning Man. And, anyway, it’s about art.
Elaborate sculptures, beautifully complex, are vividly pictured here in all their glory, curated to catch your gaze. A massive wood effigy called “the Man” is burned at the climax of the event. An enormous crackling bonfire serves as the conclusion to the week-long festivities.
